Another story although not my nuclear family’s story but an in-law’s (a Canadian Lebanese cousin married a Libyan) supposedly the Ghadaffi government funded the in-law’s education in Canada specifically engineering with the understanding he was to return to Libya and help build the country and also to prevent brain drain - after completing his education he stayed in Canada (no judgment) The in-law became successful. The reason I’m telling you this story is to highlight Ghadaffi’s commitment to education. Please don’t come at me. I respect both takes on the matter.

Did you see that Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, Gaddafi’s son, was assassinated back in February and that his assassins are yet to be captured? Saif was running for president in 2027 and many believed he would follow in his father’s footsteps and help stabilise Libya. Apparently, he also intended to revive his father’s ideas about African financial independence, including a gold-backed currency, and polls reportedly placed him as the favourite for the 2027 election. this Seems very suspicious to me

This is a sensitive topic - I am solely speaking based on my family’s experience with Ghadaffi - in the 70s and 80s he supported a lot of immigrants in North America who newly arrived from the MENA region with books and resources - including faith based books like Qurans which were not easy to come by early on. When there was mismanagement monetarily wise in one of the immigrant organizations he supported he cut off funding - my parents understood and respected his people’s decision - until today we have a big Quran from him/his people
