@steveioe: Original Story: Denver 6/4/26 - A pt was not coming out of their coma. It had been about 3 days. The family was upset and went home for the night. I went to see if I could get them out of it. Tried the sternal rub. Nothing. So I started singing sweetly. It progressed to significantly horrific out of tune screaming for over an hour. I mean I was just yelling about my day and why he wasn’t waking up, and so on. Finally, the patient slowly turns their head, opens their eyes, takes a deep breathe and screams “ shut the f**k up.” I stare blank faced at him, turn and leave. I walk briskly by the nurses station and say calmly to his nurse” your patient’s awake” and keep walking. She along with my charge nurse ran into the patient room gobsmacked that the patient was now awake.
