Yea doesnt work that way at all. Its the same as how a rehab never “cures” an addict or alcoholic. But people get better and learn to cope with their demons and take control back of their lives.

Do people not understand what mental disorders psychiatrists treat? We don’t have straight up cures for anything like PTSD, schizophrenia, bi-polar, alcohol use disorder, ADD, OCD, Alzheimer’s, etc. All they can do is give medicine to manage symptoms, but everyone is different and medications don’t affect people in the same ways. Getting people back to being able to live a somewhat normal life is the goal, but the patients will have those disorders for life.

Psychiatry isn’t about being cured, it’s about managing. Also life will always throw bs at u, so mental health care will always be needed especially if u have conditions that make self managing ur mental health difficult

Asking a psychiatrist how many patients they’ve cured is like asking a doctor how many patients they’ve cured of diabetes. Just because there’s no definitive cure doesn’t mean the treatment doesn’t work. The real question is how many people have been able to regain their quality of life thanks to that treatment.

I think cured is the wrong word as nobody is cured. however people can be rehabilitated with the proper help and medication that psychiatry offers
