@richincontext: France’s protests have already cost over €40 million in official damage — and that’s just schools, just through October 6th. Since then, the unrest has only widened: Marseille’s city hall was stormed and caught fire, Lyon’s tourism office burned to the ground, and cars and barricades burned across central Paris on October 17 alone. None of that is in the official total yet. Building by building: Lycée Henri-Moissan in Meaux (est. €3-5M), Lycée Nelson-Mandela in Nantes (€2M+), Lycée Paul-Éluard in Saint-Denis (€100K just for one gate), plus buses, trams, and transit networks suspended in multiple cities. This started because students say their schools are underfunded and overcrowded — now some of those same schools are gone. My honest guess on where this ends: if the pace holds through the November 11th general strike and the November 29th snap election — the two flashpoints everyone’s watching — I’d expect the damaged-building count to roughly double from here, somewhere around 150-200 schools and public buildings nationwide, and the real cost (once Oct 17 onward gets tallied) to land closer to €80-120 million. That’s a rough projection, not an official forecast — nobody actually knows yet, and a lot depends on what happens at the election. #France #Paris #FranceProtests #BreakingNews #CostOfProtest #RichInContext #StayInformed #news #fyp #richincontext

It’s not about the cost of damage, it’s how it sends a message.

i doubt the pace will continue like this, but I hope it is. think the French government is banking on the kids wearing themselves out and giving up so they dont actually have to take any action.

the people who are going to pay for this are always the people that already struggle and are wise enough not to do this shi in the first place.
