@stuartbrazell: Dancing With The Stars has officially suspended pro Val Chmerkovskiy for one week following an implied threat toward judge Carrie Ann Inaba. The drama kicked off on-air when Carrie Ann read the definition of a lift during her critique of Val’s wife, pro Jenna Johnson, suggesting she should know better. Val took to TikTok, writing in a since-deleted post: “You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night.” Carrie Ann called out the post on Instagram on Thursday, sharing side-by-side photos of Val and Will Smith with the caption: “So this is what we are doing now?” BBC Studios stepped in today with an official suspension statement: “The well-being of everyone who works on Dancing with the Stars is non-negotiable. Val’s social media post was inappropriate and does not reflect the values or standards expected of anyone connected with the show. As a result, he will not participate in next week’s show.” Val released a statement acknowledging his poor judgment: “In a moment where my instinct was to defend my wife, I made a poor decision to reference a meme to ‘keep my wife’s name’ out of the conversation, without stopping to think through what else that reference could imply, which was genuinely never my intention. Carrie Ann certainly didn’t deserve to get caught in the middle of my bad judgment, and I hate that she was. The last thing I want is to become a distraction from an important week or from the incredible work my dance partner Jenna Dewan is putting in. A past comment is not an implied threat. An implied threat would be : I'm going to punch you when I see you' or you better watch it if I see you.'
