BEHIND THE SMILE, THERE'S A STORY NOBODY KNOWS 💔🦋 Original Poetry by Adelaida Sobrado Sometimes I sit alone with my thoughts and ask myself, who really heals a heart that has been broken so many times? And I realize that healing begins within ourselves, with faith, prayer, time, and sometimes the kindness of people we never expected to meet. I've been betrayed by people I loved. Even someone I considered a sister betrayed me inside my own home. That kind of betrayal changes you. It teaches you that not everyone who calls you a friend understands the meaning of loyalty. But I've also learned something important. Just because one person betrayed you doesn't mean everyone will. I still struggle with trust. And I have my reasons. I survived an abusive, toxic relationship. I lived through fear, emotional pain, and the devastating effects of alcoholism in a home where there should have been love and safety. I know what it's like when the person who is supposed to protect you becomes the person you fear. I know what it's like to carry pain that nobody sees. And I know how difficult it can be to rebuild yourself after surviving something that almost destroyed you. But look at me. I'm still here. I'm still standing. And I'm still learning how to smile again. One beautiful thing I discovered is that friendship can sometimes come from unexpected places. Here on TikTok, I've met wonderful people. People who have shown me kindness, respect, encouragement, and genuine friendship. Some have survived struggles similar to mine. And sometimes, just knowing that someone understands your pain can make you feel less alone. That's why I want to tell everyone something. PLEASE BE KIND TO PEOPLE. You don't know what someone is going through behind that camera. You don't know how many tears they've cried before recording a smiling video. You don't know what happens when they turn off their phone and face their private life. Some people are fighting battles they never speak about. Some are recovering from abuse. Some are grieving. Some are lonely. And some are simply trying to survive another day. So please, don't bully people. Don't humiliate someone because of their appearance, their accent, their age, or the way they express themselves. I know what bullying feels like because I've experienced it myself. And those words can stay with someone long after the person who said them has forgotten. Your words can become someone's wound, or they can become someone's reason to keep going. Choose kindness. You don't have to understand someone's entire story to treat them with dignity. You don't have to agree with everyone to show respect. And you don't have to know someone's pain to avoid adding to it. I may be more careful now. I may not trust easily. But my heart hasn't forgotten how to care. My past taught me caution, but it did not take away my compassion. To every beautiful soul I've met here who has shown me genuine kindness, thank you. And to anyone silently fighting a battle today: I see your courage. Your story matters. And you deserve peace, respect, and kindness. Never forget: Behind every smile, there may be a story nobody knows.
