@shakenknotstirred1: The Wood Stork is a large, unmistakable wading bird found in wetlands, marshes, swamps, and shallow freshwater habitats throughout the southeastern United States. Standing nearly four feet tall, it has a mostly white body, broad black flight feathers, long dark legs, and a distinctive bald, dark head with a thick, curved bill. When soaring overhead, its broad wings and graceful flight make it an impressive sight. Unlike many wading birds, the Wood Stork relies heavily on its sense of touch to locate prey, sweeping its partly open bill through the water and snapping it shut when a fish or other small aquatic animal makes contact.#birdsoftiktok #wildlifephotography #birdwatching #birding #birdphotography
