@thrashmetalfanboy: Cliff Burton wrote the iconic bass riff for "For Whom the Bell Tolls" in 1979. • The Origin Year: Burton originally created and performed an early version of the chromatic riff in 1979. • The Early Band: He first debuted the musical idea during a 12-minute jam session with his pre-Metallica band, Agents of Misfortune. • The Battle of the Bands: He famously performed an early rendition of the piece at the 1981 Hayward Area Recreation Department Battle of the Bands in California before joining Metallica in 1982. •The Evolution :Burton originally conceived the part on a detuned acoustic classical guitar before transforming it into a distorted lead bassline for Metallica's 1984 album Ride the Lightning, with heavy rhythm guitar accents added by James Hetfield. #Metallica #Metal #CreatorSearchInsight #ForYouPage #MetallicaFans

Zack Zack :

Did Trauma ever recorded anything with Cliff?

Le prof haïssable :

I tought it was Dave Mustaine

scaryonthewall :

Newsted played it better even in 1979

Man Utd 5683/ :

Cliff was genius on the bass. What amazes me with Metallica is how many great songwriters and musicians came together at the same time. That’s why the early albums are as good as any metal albums ever made.

I didn't know Cliff had that riff for that long . I always thought he wrote it in Metallica in 1983 or 1984 . Great video 🤘
