@lizcooktattoo: I’m going to preface this by saying that it may not always be of our best interest to only focus on dream work. If we are booked but burned out by pieces that are draining us, Then we don't have to overhaul our whole calendar to start protecting it. Start with one piece. The next time something comes in that isn't the work you actually want, it could be as simple as just saying no to it. Structure out dedicated time blocks for dream pieces as well as flexible time blocks. Do that enough times and the calendar starts filling with requests that actually match, and push our artistic evolution while sustaining us artistically.
