I think this is where the book disconnects from the movies. According to the book freak accidents were not uncommon for Bella. She was always in the ER for falling or breaking bones.

The whole thing was nonsense, the story was romance focused. Even the lore didn’t make sense. Power scaling made absolutely no sense at all either. Plot holes to the max.

well they didnt have to be great liars.. they all had abilities that could get people to believe them not to mention humans are mesmerized by them.. Charlie though had sheild abilities not as strong as Bella but it was there so he didnt fall for their stories plus he is a cop and by nature would investigate stories that dont seem quite right
