A review of 41 studies involving more than 16,000 hospital healthcare professionals found that 1 in 4 experienced disrespect from coworkers, and 3 in 10 witnessed it. But here’s the part that really concerns me. Researchers also found that when healthcare workers deal with this kind of behavior, they’re less comfortable speaking up about patient safety concerns. Think about that. Someone notices a potential safety problem but hesitates to say something because of how their coworkers might treat them.
