@that.labor.nurse: What are they NOT teaching you about labor and delivery? 🤰🏼👀 Because there are some things every pregnant mama deserves to know BEFORE she walks into that hospital to have her baby! As a labor and delivery nurse, I can tell you that childbirth education is about so much more than learning how to breathe through contractions. Understanding the stages of labor, what to expect during childbirth, your options during labor and delivery, and how to advocate for yourself can make a HUGE difference in how prepared and confident you feel. Whether you’re a first-time mom, preparing for your third trimester, or just trying to figure out what in the world is about to happen when that baby decides to make an appearance, you deserve to go into birth feeling informed, empowered, and prepared! ❤️ My sister and I are both labor and delivery nurses, and we’ve created a childbirth education course to help you prepare for labor, delivery, and birth with confidence! 💕 COMMENT “CONFIDENT” if you’d like more information about our Labor with Confidence childbirth preparation course! #ChildbirthEducation #LaborAndDelivery #FirstTimeMom #PregnancyTips #BirthPreparation

Also... our state no longer does the birth classes. My husband and I STILL talk about how wonderful those classes were before our oldest son was born.

Is it normal to get the shakes after labor? I had them with my 2nd once the epidural wore off.

When I felt like I had to poop. They immediately said don’t push. Everyone yelled don’t push. My legs were shaking and I had a epidural. My daughters pregnancy made me get my tubes tied.

i’m a 54 year-old woman who has had three children now all adults, I had a major surgery last year that caused me a lot of pain and as I was coming out of anesthesia and for the coming months, I was doing the labor breathing. It helped me get through a lot of of the pain.

With my first baby I had an enema. Several hours later I said I need to go to the bathroom. They let me. I didn’t poop. Got back to bed. Laid there and within seconds I said I need to go again. That time the nurse said hang on, checked me and saw baby crowning. Off we ran for the delivery room. Wish we had labor/delivery in same room.

34 years ago I would have hugged you if you were my nurse! So unprepared having a fast C-section and preemie, I have no idea what was happening & I was told I was dramatic.

I was beyond underprepared for my first L&D back in 1984. I was at 42 weeks, so I was admitted for induction. I asked the nurse how I would know when I was having a contraction, and she told me it would feel like really bad menstrual cramps. At that point, I had never had a cramp. When I told her that, she almost seemed to get mad at me. She asked me if I ever had a cramp from being constipated, and I hesitated a bit before telling her because I didn’t want to make her mad again—but I hadn’t. I was 22 years old, but somehow had never experienced either of those things. My poor nurse ran out of ideas and didn’t know what to say except, I’m sure you’ll recognize it when it happens.

Had the shakes BAD with my first and nurse was insisting I hold the baby. She thought I was being difficult and didn't want to bond because of the difficult delivery. Honey, I did NOT want to DROP him. I had NO control!

I literally said to my nurse… “ummm I think I need to push, because I feel like I’m about to blow a donkey out my ass” 😅
