@silvianittoli: A very special day on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ✨🇮🇹 On October 15, Carlo Rambaldi received his star — posthumously — becoming part of the history of Hollywood with the 2,860th star on the Walk of Fame, in the Motion Pictures category. For those who may not be familiar with his name, Carlo Rambaldi was an Italian artist, sculptor, inventor and three-time Academy Award winner whose imagination helped bring some of cinema’s most unforgettable creatures to life. His most famous creation is, of course, E.T. 👽 The little alien who became one of the most beloved characters in film history was designed and brought to life by Rambaldi for Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Spielberg famously called him the “Geppetto of E.T.” But E.T. was only part of an extraordinary career. Rambaldi created the life-sized animatronic creature for King Kong (1976), which earned him his first Oscar, followed by Academy Awards for his work on Alien (1979) and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). He also worked with Spielberg on Close Encounters of the Third Kind and with David Lynch on Dune, among many other films. (Hollywood Walk of Fame) And there is another side of Rambaldi that I find particularly fascinating: before Hollywood, he was an artist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and began his career as a painter and sculptor. His fascination with mechanics, movement and the possibility of giving life to something imagined eventually led him into the world of special effects. (Hollywood Walk of Fame) That connection between art, technology and imagination is really at the heart of his legacy. During the ceremony, his daughter Daniela Rambaldi accepted the star on behalf of her father, surrounded by her daughters Cristina Lippolis Rambaldi and Alessandra. Cristina, president of the Carlo Rambaldi Cultural Foundation, continues to preserve and promote his artistic and technical legacy. (Hollywood Walk of Fame) Standing there in Hollywood and seeing Carlo Rambaldi’s name permanently written into the Walk of Fame felt like one of those moments when Italy and Hollywood meet in a very special way. An Italian artist who imagined creatures that seemed impossible — and then found a way to make them real. From King Kong to Alien, from Close Encounters of the Third Kind to E.T., his work helped change the way audiences believed in the impossible. And now, his name is part of Hollywood forever. ⭐️ Carlo Rambaldi, 1925–2012. The Italian “Geppetto” who gave Hollywood some of its most unforgettable creatures. 🇮🇹❤️🎬 #CarloRambaldi #ET #ETTheExtraTerrestrial #WalkOfFame
