Crème brûlée might sound fancy, but it’s actually one of the simplest desserts you can make at home. All you need is: 🥚 egg yolks 🥛 heavy cream 🍬 sugar 🌱 vanilla That’s it. First, heat 2 cups of heavy cream with a split vanilla bean until it’s just steaming. Let it sit for a few minutes so the vanilla can infuse. While that’s happening, mix 5 egg yolks, 1/2 cup sugar, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Slowly pour the warm cream into the egg mixture, a little at a time, stirring gently so you don’t scramble the eggs. Strain it for an extra smooth custard, then pour into ramekins. Place the ramekins in a baking dish, fill the pan halfway with hot water, and bake at 300° until the edges are set but the center still has a slight jiggle. Let them cool, then chill for at least 4 hours. Right before serving, sprinkle sugar on top and torch it until you get that crisp caramelized shell. Crack with a spoon and pretend you’re at a fancy restaurant. Ingredients cost me about $6 total and made 4 crème brûlées… which means I basically paid $1.50 each for a dessert that restaurants charge $12 for. Not a bad return on investment 🤤 #baking #Recipe #dessert #budget #shilohfarm
