As a Bisaya who had quality education, it was a baffling experience nung sinabihan ako ng relatives ko from MNL na I don't sound Bisaya daw when I speak Tagalog or English. While naccredit ko sya sa privilege of getting proper education, napapaisip ako na from how ppl in Luzon view us from their imperialist lens, until when pa ba namen ipprove that we are more than the accent na caricatured pa minsan in media... and until when do we prove ba na we are more than the "probinsya" label 🙃 la lang ma, medj kumaliwa reflection ko, pero it makes me think talaga

As I’ve gotten older, wala na ko masyadong pakialam sa pronunciation, accents, grammar and tenses. While yes, mahalaga naman to know these things and use them properly, tagalog man o english, mas nagfofocus na ko sa substance and intention. Kung nagets naman kita habang nag uusap tayo, okay na yun. Life is short para pag awayan pa natin ito or gawin problema haha for me lang naman

Salamat sa video, naappreciate ko sya 🥺, bilang isang nanay ng isang fil-am kid (3yr old) dito sa California, tinuturuan ko magtagalog yung anak ko pero meron sya talaga accent. Ganun talaga kase nakapaligid sa California english, ang akin nalang ay matutunan nya yung wika nya, may accent man o wala.
