When they point a gun to my head and tell me to explain the Black Rose arc so I lowkey just die

carb :

having to explain that utena turning into a car is actually a beautiful metaphor about reclaiming ones body and sexuality from abusers, but also you're a car

average 90s anime

𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆!!🌸🍃 :

it really doesn't make sense to me but i'm here for yuri and Bishounen men

jeff :

Even worse when the lyrics for the ost are on the screen at the same time as the dialogue so it's a game of subtitle ping pong while also trying to look at the cool fights

apple :

pretty much how the first watch feels

magdalena ⋆. 𐙚˚ :

I fucking love Utena. I loved reading through the comments on the Nozomi youtube channel after each episode and trying to decode the symbolism. Now the movie, I do not understand 😭 Has anyone seen any shows/movies/etc with a similar style of storytelling? Is it called surrealism? I probably need to branch out and read more books lol

𝄞𝕯𝖆𝖛𝖎𝖉✶𓆤 :

I had a stroke trying to recommend and explain this series to a friend but I gave up mid explanation

chuchuchumuca :

It don’t make sense and why I love it, IT COULD MEAN ANYTHING and we as a fandom can argue about it for years

F3DE! (Yoosung's wife) 🇻🇪 :

I genuinely didn’t understand anything that was happening until around episode 30...

Rosetta Sun :
