The Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries were notably absent as "The Star-Spangled Banner" played before Game 1 of the WNBA Finals, leaving many to wonder why. The teams were on the court warming up for the game, but left the the floor empty as the anthem played. Both teams return seconds after the performance ended. Neither team explained the absence, but the timing is raising questions, especially given the WNBA's history of national anthem protests. And this isn't the first time Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has been absent during the anthem.
