How is this adorable little nugget still at the shelter?! 🥹🦊 He’s a shy little guy who spent much of our time together looking for a way out of the yard. But he also let me sit beside him and give him some love. He doesn’t need to be the most outgoing dog in the shelter to deserve a home. Just someone patient enough to let him come out of his shell. ❤️He did live with a 12 year old child and was playful. Please share to help him find his person! He’s already past deadline and extremely urgent! 72 HR NOTICE Approved for public adoption with bite disclosure QUESTIONS CAN BE ANSWERED 24/7 AT (562) 940-6898 IF YOU HAVE PLACEMENT: PLEASE EMAIL DOWNEY ANIMAL CARE CENTER STAFF DACCDowneyRescue@animalcare.lacounty.gov Dante #A5802233 3yrs neutered Pomeranian mix 28lbs Owner surrender 9/22/26 due to landlord “The behaviors described today reflect the dog’s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out—or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.” HW: ocular opacity OS Dante displayed a neutral posture during the process, showing no pro-social behavior throughout the assessment. Once the session concluded, he was returned to his kennel without incident. Dante showed no concerning behavior; however, slow introductions are highly advised to help him become comfortable around people. On 9/9/26, the dog owner left her door open, and her dog, Dante, ran outside. A neighbor’s approximately 9-year old daughter was outside at the time. When the girl saw Dante, she began to run. Dante ran toward her and bit her on the right ankle, causing minor puncture wounds.
