mind you, places like kenilworth and glencoe were created genuinely for the sake of being racist. so yes, the VAST majority of new trier students are privileged. i grew up in the suburbs and went to gbs. i truly hope things change here and yall don’t have to deal with such overt racism in the suburbs

The fact that so many New Trier students are talking about how hard they “worked to get the education they have” or how “poorly funded ETHS is” shows that you are completely missing the point. This is about the racism that band students faced during the game, and nothing else. Calling people racial slurs and spitting on them is disgusting, dehumanizing, and completely unacceptable. Instead of acknowledging what happened, yall are deflecting and making excuses. No ones school pride excuses racism. You should be holding yourselves and your peers accountable instead of defending behavior that should never have happened in the first place. Stop making excuses and start acknowledging the actual issue.

Yes students at new trier are privileged, but most of our parents had to work so hard to get us the education and opportunities new trier provides us. I understand that not every student goes through the same struggles so they can’t understand the depth of racism, which is horrible. But to group everyone at new trier with that smaller percent of uneducated people, is wrong. Stop pushing the narrative that we are ALL uneducated and stuck up.

New Trier has been like that forever. I was at ETHS in the early 90’s. They were just as bad. Just as little was done about it too 😡. I am so sorry 😞.

Literally, most of his comments is proving the absolute stupidity that these new trier kids have just completely ignoring that they are wrong and refuse to admit that. You guys have such a lack of accountability and knowledge about racism and the very reasonable reactions for all of your guys, horrible actions and words towards completely innocent people.

I graduated new trier in 2011. Spent my childhood in district 39. Im not proud of it. I tell people I went to public school and leave it at that.

Ok I am a new trier student I am so sorry this happened but new trier is the only good thing our middle schools and junior highs were one of the poorest and smallest schools in the district and maybe in the state our school everyone in it is so grateful to have it and never spoiled we worked our butts off to be a good school when putting money towards the e things that count and when coming to school we are very welcoming and nice towards you guys we always say you guys is our biggest rivals since you guys are so good at sports and everything but again so sorry I have no clue who would’ve done this to u guys.

I stand with Evanston/Evanston Skokie area 110%! I grew up there while my girls were babies, one love unconditional -no matter what corner you turned – inclusion, diversity & acceptance. The New Trier& GBS HIGH SCHOOLS HAVE TURNED SO SNOBBY AND RUDE AND FULL OF bullying 😡💔! Spoiled the brand new cars at 16 just pick which color Jeep.. our daughters stuck out because they were kind to everyone and stood up so what was right instead of bowing to the “popular group,” so proud of my unconditional, loving family, & our Evanston roots💪❤️!
