@lone.star.legend: There's a hole in the Texas Hill Country with a story that'll stop you cold. 🕳️🌵 Dead Man's Hole, just south of Marble Falls, drops 160 feet straight into the limestone — seven feet across at the mouth, discovered in 1821 by a bug-hunting entomologist of all people. The 1951 explorers who finally got down there found two side passages at the bottom. But legend says the hole's real history is darker: during the Civil War, Union sympathizers seized in the Hill Country were thrown into it in the night. The remains of several bodies were recovered in the late 1860s, and one old account claims sixteen skeletons' worth of bones came up. Legend, not proven fact — but the hole is real, and so was the violence. Would you lean over the edge and look down, or keep a respectful distance?
