My father refused to keep any chipped glasses, cups, mugs or plates in our house because he said the chips were a breeding ground for bacteria. The only time I ever witnessed him drinking from a chipped cup was at my aunt’s house because his brother drank most of their money so she couldn’t afford to replace chipped items
