Needle nose always worked for me. You have to turn it slightly left and right before you pull and then as you pull

Now this is a tool worth buying. I bought that crappy t-handle moen sells. It took me two hours of yanking to remove the old cartridge. I thought I was going to pull the valve body right through the fiberglass shower wall. I ended up tearing off all the rubber before it finally came out
