people in europe love to act like they don’t have a tipping culture but i hate to break it to you guys, you do! in restaurants i’ve been to in the uk they’ll either have a service charge or a “sit in” charge or something along those lines and it just so happens to be about 15% which is literally the average tip amount in america anyway

Litterally no one is say that it SHOULD be this way, jobs SHOULD pay a livable wage, but it IS this way (in the USA) and until it changes you should tip your server because otherwise they don’t get to eat and you are actively preventing them from doing so. every time you don’t tip yourself you are not only actively preventing someone from making a living wage by refusing to pay them properly when it is expected of you, but you are also taking up the time and seating of someone who would. If you don’t want to tip fine, don’t come to the USA or at the very least don’t eat out (which is a luxury btw, you don’t have to eat out if tipping is too expensive for you).

Percentage based tipping is the real scam, the cost of what i ordered has nothing to do with how much a waiter should get for carrying it. There is no service on earth that warrants more than like a 5 dollar tip.

The biggest victims of tipping culture are the servers themselves. Yes it should change, but until it does, you should tip. If (for some reason) you’re planning a trip to America, budget tipping into your meals.
