@nourishingapothecary: Endometriosis and adenomyosis are not the same thing. They often occur together and can cause similar symptoms, which is why they get mixed up so much. But where that tissue is growing matters. With endometriosis, tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. That can include the ovaries, pelvic lining, bowel and bladder. With adenomyosis, endometrial tissue is found within the muscular wall of the uterus. The uterus can become enlarged and tender, and periods can be really heavy and painful. You might also feel that dragging, heavy pelvic pressure. You can have one. You can have the other. You can have both. And this is why I want more women to know about adeno. If you’ve had surgery for endometriosis but you’re still struggling with heavy, painful periods, it’s worth asking your gynaecologist whether adenomyosis has also been looked at. It doesn’t mean that’s definitely the answer. But it deserves a conversation. I’m going to talk more about adenomyosis over the next few videos because I really don’t think it gets enough attention. Follow along, and if you’d like individual support, Mel is who I recommend on our team for endometriosis and adenomyosis. Start with a free discovery call, have a chat and go from there. Our clinic is in Liverpool, Sydney, and we see people Australia wide via Zoom. www.nourishingapothecary.com #Adenomyosis #Endometriosis #PeriodPain #HeavyPeriods #NourishingApothecary
