Because Maddie wasn’t refusing to do the show! It’s all about being sued, I personally think and feel that TLC is also responsible because they could’ve just let the kid off the hook. They seen his struggle and turned a blind eye. The only way for Kate not to get sued was to put him in a mental institution. Because a medical issue is the only way she wouldn’t be sued. I feel that there needs to be some kind of limit on kids being forced to do something they don’t wanna do. Especially if the parent is the one that signed them up for it isn’t their child labor laws? I don’t understand where the line is drawn. It’s like labor laws don’t apply to kids on TV but no kid under the age of 16 can go get a job.

I definitely feel the consensus here is that if she were to have sent Maddie away, everybody would be supporting her decision… now looking back at all of the seasons I will be the first person to admit that Colin was the most ill behaved out of the 6 but Maddie was awful & it was definitely not addressed.
