The Bible says Elijah would be sent before the great and dreadful day of the Lord....What I find interesting is how the New Testament connects this prophecy to John the Baptist, yet in John 1:21, when John is asked if he is Elijah, he says, “I am not.”Christians explain this by saying John came in the spirit and power of Elijah, not as Elijah himself. But that raises an interesting question...if a prophecy can be interpreted symbolically rather than literally when the literal meaning doesn't fit, how do we objectively determine whether it was genuinely fulfilled?I'm not saying this one verse disproves Christianity.I'm saying we should examine the claims critically instead of automatically accepting the explanation just because it's written in a sacred book.... A claim doesn't become true simply because a religion teaches it..we should have good reasons and evidence to believe it.That's why I think questioning religious claims is important. We shouldn't be afraid to examine even the things people consider sacred. 🧠

Avraham, you certainly don't have adequate knowledge of what you are talking about. In the first case Elijah being taken up by a whirlwind was not a physical phenomenon, is was a vision experienced by some holy personage and visions are subject to interpretation. Now the biblical prophecy by prophet Malachi was to the effect that prophet Elihah who has by passed away will first come among the Jews to prepare the way before the advent of the Messiah ( Jesus) . In the light of this prophecy of prophet Malachi, the Jews were first expecting the appearance of Elijah before the advent of Jesus, they did not understood the prophecy of prophet Malachi that it was in the spiritual sense but they took the meaning literally and so they were expecting the self-same Elijah who had by then passed away to come physically once again. When suddenly Jesus appeared, the Jews protested against him and demanded that, accordingly to the prophecy, Elijah must come first before Jesus, so where is Elijah? it was then that Jesus pointed it out to them that Elijah had already appeared before him and that he was John the Baptsist who had appeared in the spirit and power of Elijah, and not the self-same Elijah was to appear. The Jews in spite of Jesus explanation refused to believe in Jesus as a true prophet and it is this disbelief that has existed till today.
