I’m aging myself here but I truly haven’t felt this excited and had this much anticipation over a show since I was a little teenager watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, on the forums reading spoilers and coming up with theories with my online friends. It’s the same feeling that I’m getting to experience again as an adult and I actually love it so much 😭

The older I get and more fandoms I am in, the more I understand how precious the anticipation is to making memorable moments. Of course we all want the season now…but we also want the buildup. We want the excitement, the fan theories, the tension and stress of waiting, and yes even the crumbs. Netflix binge culture has diminished so much of that for fans because we can just consume the art instead of getting to tease it out one episode at a time. So, while I am so excited and even a bit impatient, I deep down know it is glorious to wait and talk about that wait and anticipate with other fans. They get one shot at Season 5. I want them to take their time and do it right for the fans and the artistry of the show. There are some things I wish they were doing better with the promo and teasers…or lack thereof. I know plenty of fans have pointed out the lack of focus on Pride Month this year, lesbian visibility, and even just talking about the season in similar ways they have previous seasons and the new spinoff, but we are getting Season 5. Hannah and Masali are the perfect leads who know how important this is to so many sapphics, fans, and the much-needed representation. We are winning, so let’s enjoy the anticipation while we can. It only happens once.

As bad as I want new content and the season to start, I also never want this to end. Drag it out as long as possible, keep me excited, keep me theorizing, keep me yearning. I love having something to look forward to. Once we get the promos, the press tours, the episodes…that’s just it. Dreading it being over already. 😅
