But here lies the deeper truth: The lesson is not always about the other person. Sometimes their arrogance exposes your pride. Their criticism exposes your insecurity. Their success exposes your envy. Their rejection exposes how much of your worth you have placed in someone else’s hands. THE WORLD IS FULL OF MIRRORS DISGUISED AS PEOPLE. And perhaps the greatest transformation begins when you stop asking, “Why did this person enter my life?” and begin asking, “What has this encounter revealed about me?” This does not mean accepting mistreatment, excusing betrayal, or remaining where your peace is repeatedly violated. YOU CAN LEARN FROM A PERSON WITHOUT GIVING THEM PERMISSION TO KEEP TEACHING YOU THROUGH PAIN. The wise man knows when to listen, when to forgive, when to establish boundaries, and when to walk away. He does not require every teacher to be virtuous, every lesson to be pleasant, or every encounter to become a permanent relationship. And eventually, he discovers something extraordinary: WHEN YOU STOP NEEDING EVERYONE TO BE YOUR ALLY, YOU STOP ALLOWING EVERY ADVERSARY TO BECOME YOUR MASTER. Some teach you what to become. Some teach you what never to become. And some teach you that the greatest wisdom is knowing the difference. NO MAN IS YOUR ENEMY. NO MAN IS YOUR FRIEND. EVERY MAN IS YOUR TEACHER.
