@igihe: Suzanne Nyiranyamibwa: When a Voice Becomes a Legacy of Remembrance Some voices are never forgotten. They transcend time, carry the pain of a people, and become guardians of their collective memory. In Leuven, Belgium, on June 6, 2026, during the commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, Suzanne Nyiranyamibwa lent her voice to a deeply moving moment of reflection and remembrance. Today, following her passing, these images take on a special significance. This appearance was among her last in Belgium, where she continued to use her art to preserve the memory of the Genocide against the Tutsi. Her song was much more than a musical interpretation. It expressed pain, stirred memories, and reminded us of the importance of ensuring that history is never forgotten. Through these images, IGIHE pays tribute to Suzanne Nyiranyamibwa, a dedicated artist whose voice and commitment to remembrance will remain etched in our hearts and minds. May her voice continue to honour the memory of the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi, and may their history remain alive in the consciousness of present and future generations. ⤵️⤵️
