My husband, Caleb, wasn't a dancer. He always joked that he had "two left feet." But when Sophie got engaged, she hugged him and said, "Dad, you're not getting out of our dance." Caleb laughed. "I promise. I'll practice." And he did. For weeks, I caught him watching tutorials in the living room and counting steps under his breath. Sometimes Sophie came over, and they practiced together while I laughed from the kitchen. So on the wedding day, I expected him to be nervous. I didn't expect him to refuse. When the DJ announced the father-daughter dance, Sophie walked toward him smiling. Caleb didn't move. "Dad?" "Not tonight, sweetheart." Her smile faded. "But you promised." "I know. I'm sorry."
