Nicole :
Recently, I’ve been really loving and enjoying the song “Ako ang Bagyo” by Shean, but for me, hindi ko siya nakikita sa POV ng mga taong pinagpalit ng kanilang mga girlfriend or boyfriend. Instead, I see it through the eyes of a daughter na hindi pinili at iniwan ng sarili niyang ama para sa ibang pamilya. My dad left me and chose his wife over me, and that’s why the line “bulong ko sa hangin, sana di kayo masaya” hits differently. For me, it means, “Bakit kayo magiging masaya sa pamilyang pinili n’yong buuin kung ako, hanggang ngayon, nangungulila pa rin sa pamilyang minsan kong pinangarap na buo rin para sa akin?” It’s not about being bitter because someone found happiness with another person, it’s about being a daughter who has to live with the pain of knowing that her father can build a life with someone else while she’s left behind, still grieving the family she thought she would always belong to. Kaya kung papalitan ko man ang title na “Ako ang Bagyo,” I’d call it “Ako ang Karma N’yo”, because someday, I hope they realize that while they were busy building their happiness, there was a daughter silently suffering from the emptiness their choices left behind.
