as an H1B visa holder at the moment. I agree that the employers abuse it... they know that immigrants like me will not complain about the lower pay because they sponsor our greencard. They take 40-50% of what our salary originally is supposed to be (comparable to a citizen's salary) and they take some of it for commission and some for green card processing( legal fees, processing fees)

The H1b part is absolutely true. I worked at a company that used a ton of H1b visas for standard engineering jobs and as I became friends with those engineers, they told me how they felt the company would hold the H1b visa over their head to make they work for less with less pto and paid them much less than average workers
