@catholicvoicesprayers: Saint Luke the Evangelist was a physician, missionary companion of Saint Paul, and the inspired author of two essential books of the New Testament: the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. Known as the “beloved physician,” Luke accompanied Saint Paul on his missionary journeys and recorded the extraordinary growth of the early Church. His Gospel preserves some of Christianity's most treasured passages, including the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Magnificat, the Good Samaritan, and the Prodigal Son. Luke's writings emphasize God's infinite mercy, compassion for the poor, and the saving mission of Jesus Christ. Ancient Christian tradition also remembers Luke as a painter who created an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, making him a beloved patron of artists and physicians. Saint Luke reminds us that the Gospel is not simply a record of the past. It is the living message of salvation that continues to bring healing to souls today.
