@matthewdeanstewart: When I told people I was spending a fall weekend in Poughkeepsie, everyone kept asking me WHY. So I decided to find out exactly what this Hudson Valley city had to offer! Just a train ride from NYC, I spent the weekend exploring downtown Poughkeepsie, staying at Heartwood at Vassar, dining at The Salt Line at Vassar, and grabbing drinks at the historic Mill House Brewing Company. Along the way, I wandered the beautiful grounds of Vassar College, stopped into Fika & Hygge, explored the strange and unusual at Curio Cabinet of the Hudson Valley, and browsed the vinyl collection at Darkside Records. Of course, no trip to Poughkeepsie would be complete without visiting the Walkway Over the Hudson, one of the area’s most iconic attractions! From historic architecture and quirky local shops to great food and beautiful fall scenery, Poughkeepsie turned out to be a pretty interesting weekend getaway from New York City!
