@nessa_explains: NESSA EXPLAINS | THE EYES OF GHANA — PART 1 Who gets to tell Africa's story? A documentary about Ghana's history is attracting global attention, with Barack and Michelle Obama among its executive producers. But beyond the big names lies an extraordinary story of a Ghanaian man who helped preserve some of the most important moments in our nation's history. From Kwame Nkrumah and Ghana's independence to Pan-Africanism and the Cold War, there's more to this documentary than meets the eye. In Part 1, we explore why preserving our history matters and how Ghana's independence helped shape international relations. Because beyond the headlines, there's always a bigger story. What do you know about The Eyes of Ghana? #NessaExplains #TheEyesOfGhana #GhanaHistory #KwameNkrumah #PanAfricanism

Nessa Explains :
📌 Update: Thanks to everyone who pointed this out. The Eyes of Ghana has had some limited screenings here in Ghana, including its premiere at the National Theatre in Accra. So it's fairer to say that most Ghanaians haven't had the chance to see it yet, not that we'll be the last.
But that doesn't change the point. The US and Canada are getting a nationwide cinema release on a set date, while Ghanaian audiences are still waiting. There's no date for a wider release here, and no chance yet for the general public to be part of it the way we're all hearing about it on social media.
And that's my main argument: Africans still don't control our own stories. If we don't control our stories, we don't control how the world sees us. It's time for us to take the reins. 🇬🇭

So why is it that Obama and ishowspeed the ones to produce that when we have prominent people here to handle that.
