@hiphopgrindtv: The voice, the pen, the classics. Happy birthday, Ne-Yo! 🎂🔥 Ne-Yo turns 47 today. Born Shaffer Chimere Smith on October 18, 1979, in Camden, Arkansas, the singer and songwriter became one of the defining voices of 2000s R&B. His 2006 debut album, In My Own Words, introduced him to a worldwide audience, with “So Sick” reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. He followed that breakthrough with Because of You and Year of the Gentleman, building a catalog that brought together smooth vocals, memorable melodies and detailed stories about love and relationships. His songwriting credits stretch well beyond his own recordings, including hits for Beyoncé, Rihanna and Mario. That work helped shape the sound of an era while he continued establishing himself as a performer in his own right. Ne-Yo has earned three Grammy Awards, including Best Contemporary R&B Album for his sophomore release and two awards for Miss Independent. From his solo records to collaborations across hip-hop, R&B and pop, his career includes songs that remain familiar long after their original release. #NeYo #HappyBirthdayNeYo #RnB #MusicHistory #HHGTV
