Lord of the rings definitely doesn’t fall into the “beautiful to look at but emotionally cold” category at all. I think it’s one of the most emotionally compelling film series ever and all the technical prowess just enhances that. However it’s such a rich story that it does ask for patience, which isn’t different to how you should approach any good art film.

you are wrong, they actually conect with It emotionally and thats precisely why they can't explain shit, it's love for ti, its not something you explain with logic. The reason you think that you can't Talk for so long of your top 4 is probably because you try to intelectualize It, this is not necesarily a bad thing, but sometimes It comes of as pretentioous. Most ppl do not think or go their houses to write and think a long essay of why they LOVE art, most ppl just FEEL art and if you ask them about it, they will most likely go blank.

it’s funny cuz in the 70s, Roger Ebert did describe seeing star wars as an out of body experience where he forgot he was in a movie theater. These movies do have the impact you’re talking about, even if they didn’t connect with you personally, which is ofc fine

Star wars has genuinely changed my life. Im a huge sw fan and i collect star wars stuff i read sw books and comics and i have a huge knowlegde of star wars, not bc its visually appealing, but because I genuinely love the stories.

Can we expand on that "forget world exists"? Because I had movies I scored 10/10 and not a single time during watching it I felt world outside me didnt exist. And they were masterpieces visually and emtionally!
