Julie Boucher :
The suicide of his friend, Suzanne Schnerr. Taylor wrote this while in London recording his debut album. His friends back home withheld the news of Suzanne's death for months because they didn't want to distract or distress him during a crucial moment in his career. When he finally found out, he wrote the opening lines: "Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone..."

so he met Susan while he was in rehab... he was rehabing from Heroine addiction, thats the reference to Fire and rain... he can't find a friend(dealer) sunny days are when he was high and cold wind blows is when your going through withdrawls... Susans family wanted her to come back to South Carolina and she didn't really want to go... the plane crashed on its way back and killed her... he met her in the rehab and fell in love with her...

Saw JT with my daughter years ago when she was a teenager. She had tears in her eyes . She died from an overdose 2 years ago. This hits different than it did when we listened to it 💔

James Taylor,Jim Croce,John Denver just some of the greatest folk storytellers around, where you can close your eyes and visualize what they’re singing about we just don’t have that anymore

In the 70s the artists had to be able to write, sing a song AND play an instrument, so not so today [Laugh approved] they were STORY TELLERS , JT a goat [Perfect score][Perfect score][Perfect score][Perfect score]
