Professional help is def going to say that divorce is the best option. Anyone professional will say once divorce is an option or a thought that the marriage is in serious trouble. The decisions HE made to financially ruined you both hasn’t gotten better and has put you both in one bad situation after another. Love isn’t the only thing in a marriage. Trust, understanding, and respect. Doing this separately and not like each other decisions is a recipe of disaster

i agree with everyone that you should definitely try. if it doesn't work out, at least you'll know you tried. it's obvious theres a big love between you guys. it's true that he made financial mistakes and your bond is definitely being tested. mistakes happen to everyone, big or small. but even if all this hasn't happened, something else would've tested you. i wish you both the best.

If there were not the financial issues, would you think of divorcing him? if the answer. is yes, then go ahead. if the answer is no, then try keeping your financial issues separate as in him dealing with it with his finances and you morally supporting him, it is difficult I know but if it is just cause of the money then you would regret it later.

sometimes it's not the wrong person but the wrong timing or circumstances. like you said, without financial struggles the relationship may be sailing, but it's when things get bad that you see the true character of someone. doesn't mean they are a bad person, but that the way they overcome something may not align with yours, and that's okay. the most important thing is if you are happy together. don't hurt each other, even if it's not your intention. be honest with yourselves. we don't discuss enough what ifs with our partners but i think it's necessary for a long term relationship. take care of yourself first always.
