@thesunnahguy: I think one of the biggest mistakes you can make after someone has hurt you is spending the next few years of your life trying to make them regret what they did. I've seen people become so consumed by wanting to prove someone wrong that almost every decision they make revolves around that person. They want to become more successful so they can see what they've lost. They want to look happier so the other person feels jealous. They want to show everybody how well they're doing. And I understand where that feeling comes from. When someone has genuinely hurt you, especially someone you trusted, it's natural to want them to realise what they've done. But I've realised that there's a big difference between moving on with your life and building your entire life around proving a point. Because if you're constantly wondering whether they've seen your success, whether they're watching your stories or whether they regret losing you, how much have you actually moved on? They're still occupying your thoughts. Still influencing your decisions. Still taking up space in a life they're no longer part of. And I think that's a terrible way to spend the time Allah has given you. There comes a point where you have to stop making your happiness dependent on somebody else's reaction. Focus on your relationship with Allah. Work on your character. Spend time with people who genuinely love you. Build something meaningful. Find purpose in what you're doing. And learn to appreciate the life you have without needing somebody else to witness it. I'm not saying you have to pretend you weren't hurt. Some experiences take a long time to recover from, and forgiveness doesn't always mean allowing someone back into your life. But you deserve to reach a point where what happened to you no longer dictates how you live. The real victory isn't making someone regret hurting you. It's becoming so genuinely content with the life Allah has given you that their opinion no longer matters. May Allah heal the hearts of those carrying pain from their past and grant them peace, contentment and the strength to move forward. Ameen.
