@rxreflex: 2026 PTCB look-alike drugs ⚠️ Same first letters, totally different body system — 3 traps Score yourself out of 3. 1️⃣ PRILOSEC vs PROZAC — which one is the antidepressant? 2️⃣ GUAIFENESIN vs GUANFACINE — which one is the cough medicine? 3️⃣ RISPERIDONE vs ROPINIROLE — which one is for Parkinson's? 👇 Answers (don't peek): ✅ 1. PROzac = fluoxetine, an SSRI antidepressant. PriLOSEC = omeprazole, a PPI for heartburn and ulcers. 🧠 ome-PRAZOLE — -prazole = PPI, the stomach one. ISMP has published real swaps of these two. ✅ 2. guaiFENesin = Mucinex, an OTC expectorant that loosens chest mucus. guanFACINE = Intuniv for ADHD, or tablets for blood pressure — prescription only. 🧠 One lives on the cough aisle. The other never does. ✅ 3. rOPINIRole = Requip, a dopamine agonist for Parkinson's and restless legs. risperiDONE = Risperdal, an atypical antipsychotic. 🧠 The twist: opposite jobs. risperiDONE blocks dopamine, rOPINIRole switches it on. The FDA counted 226 mix-up reports of these two (2011). ⭐ The fix behind all three: know what it's FOR. ISMP's own advice is to put the purpose on the prescription. PriLOSEC/PROzac and guaiFENesin/guanFACINE are on ISMP's confused-drug-names list; risperiDONE/rOPINIRole is on the FDA Tall Man list. Look-alikes are Patient Safety & QA — 23.75% of the 2026 exam. 💬 Comment your score — 0, 1, 2 or 3 👇 📌 Save the card · 🔁 tag someone who would mix these up 📱 Every Top 200 drug — and look-alike pairs drilled as exam questions — in RxReflex.
