My dad passed February 13th 2025 at 93 and he told me when he was in the army he was in a bar somewhere far from here (can't remember where) and he said a man asked where he was from so he told him McCurtain County. The man said Oh that's where you can get away with murder. Now think about that...way before the internet or cell phones...just word of mouth.

My grandma lived there. Hochatown. Loved going out there to visit but there was some crazy stuff that happened out there. My grandmas boyfriend had a large farm and was shot at when he was in the back part of his property and was told not come back there anymore. Someone was growing on his land and they wouldn’t let him back there.
