France faced a tense Saturday as demonstrations over school conditions and the rising cost of living escalated into clashes with police, fires, and looting across several cities. Authorities said around 550,000 people took to the streets, and at least 1,200 were arrested. In Paris, the main march appeared mostly peaceful during the afternoon. But later, some groups set fires, torched vehicles, and raided shops as riot police used tear gas and water cannon. The unrest spread far beyond the capital. In Limoges, a fire at the town hall caused part of the roof to collapse. In Lyon, the city’s tourist office was set ablaze, which the mayor called a tragedy. Businesses and public buildings were also damaged in several other cities. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said 150 police officers were Inj\*red. In Saint-Étienne, the mayor reported that a young man suffered a severe hand Inj\*ry from a small Expl\*sive. The demonstrations began after students raised concerns about staff shortages and deteriorating conditions in secondary schools. Their movement later drew support from unions and groups upset over the rising cost of living. The unrest comes as France faces growing uncertainty ahead of next year’s presidential election. Leaders from different sides condemned the destruction while disagreeing over who was responsible for the escalation. President Emmanuel Macron said those responsible for damaging public buildings and looting would face prosecution. The government has promised 3,000 additional substitute teachers, but demonstrations have continued. Sometimes, when frustration spills into chaos, the people who live and work there pay the heaviest price. Do you think the government’s promises will calm tensions, or will the unrest continue? \#France #Paris #BreakingNews #CostOfLiving #worldnews
