Lost my sister in August of 2025! She was 55 and died from Lewy Body Dementia. I believe brought on by her heartache. She went the last 10 years of her life grieving her living son and 2 granddaughters. His wife turned him against our whole family. He came to her deathbed at hospice and cried that he’d been a shitty son! Yes, you had been. I’m not sure she heard him as she was in a deep coma state. I pray she did. My heart is still so angry at him. I’ll never understand. She cried constantly missing him. He was 20 years old when he got married and never gave a reason other than “You know what you did”. If only we did know. I beg all you Mothers of estranged children to not let it make you die from heartache. It was devastating watching my sister die in such a horrible way. [Teary eyed]. This is my beautiful sister.

I finally came to the conclusion that if my daughter thinks her life is better without me in it then I love her enough to let her go! It killed me at first but it’s gotten easier day by day!

As a child. I came to realize I can not expect my parents to change, as I do not want to change - that is unfair. I do appreciate what they have done for me in the past but I do not like who they/ I have become around them. I would not choose them as a people I’d want to be around as an adult , we are both adults now and how they treat others and me is their right but it’s not my responsibility to accept to be around it. I’m sorry if your child has not had the ability or strength to tell you this yet. It took me until recently to be an adult and give my parents and myself the closure. I looked inward and saw years of people pleasing, watching myself be wrecked with guilt for adjusting to my parents emotions. I hope you find your own peace and maybe this gives you some insight.

I’ve never heard anybody say it exactly like you have and it’s all true. I love my son beyond words and yet I’m so angry that he took away my grandchildren and his love for no reason.

The truth is, narcissists don't care if you're angry. Actually, they thrive off of it. They live to know that they're getting under your skin. I suppose the worst part is narcissists don't change, they can't be fixed because it's not a disorder. It's a character flaw.
