Preorders for the highly anticipated iPhone Duo, Apple's first-ever foldable smartphone, officially opened on October 16, 2026, and triggered an unprecedented buying frenzy. Within a matter of mere minutes, the initial launch-day inventory completely evaporated. Tech enthusiasts and casual buyers alike flooded the Apple Store app and website the moment the clock struck 8 AM Eastern Time. Within the first five minutes of the window opening, delivery estimates quickly shifted from the initial launch date of October 23, 2026, into mid and late November. Within a half-hour, the situation grew even more severe as estimated delivery dates for every single color and storage configuration completely slipped past the holiday season and straight into late January 2027. This rapid depletion of stock represents one of the most drastic pre-order rollouts Apple has experienced in over a decade. Analysts attribute the immediate scarcity to a perfect storm of immense consumer demand and highly constrained production pipelines. The iPhone Duo features a premium 7.6-inch foldable inner display and complex hinge mechanics. Reports leading up to the launch suggested that manufacturing these intricate parts yielded exceptionally tight component supplies, with production numbers severely limited compared to standard iPhone rollouts. Because Apple could only produce a small fraction of its typical launch volume, the massive wave of eager shoppers instantly overwhelmed the available supply. As a result, a massive divide has emerged between consumers. A very small percentage of lucky buyers managed to navigate the technical glitches and complete their checkouts within the opening moments, securing their delivery for late October 2026. However, the overwhelming majority of consumers who hesitated for even a brief moment are now facing a grueling wait of three months or more, with their new devices not arriving until 2027. This extreme backlog has also ignited a rampant secondary market. Scalpers quickly capitalized on the scarcity, listing confirmed preorders on resale platforms like eBay for astronomical prices reaching up to ten thousand dollars. For normal consumers unwilling to pay these extreme markups, the only remaining options are to wait several months into the new year or queue outside physical retail locations on launch day hoping to snag a rare piece of walk-in inventory (keywords: ipad, told my grandma i wanted an ipad, ipad pro, husk compatibility layer, android on ios, husk ios, lineageos, m5 ipad pro, iphone duo, android, qemu, qemu kvm, virtual machine) #TechTok #cidstech #ipad #android #ipadpro - @cidstech
