@angannchye61: 🇫🇷 What's happening in France right now? Over the last few days, France has seen some of its biggest protests and riots in years. Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets across the country to protest against the rising cost of living, higher fuel prices, and concerns about public services such as education and healthcare. The movement grew from student protests that began in September over school funding and teacher shortages. It then expanded as trade unions, workers, pensioners, farmers, and supporters of the Yellow Vest movement joined in. In some cities, the demonstrations turned violent, with clashes between protesters and police, fires, vandalism, and looting reported in places including Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, and Limoges. Why is this happening? Many protesters say everyday life has become too expensive. Rising fuel costs and broader cost-of-living pressures have increased public frustration, while concerns over public services and government policies have added to the unrest. Who else is affected? The impact is being felt across France, with transport disruptions, business closures, and travel interruptions. Similar transport-related labour disputes and demonstrations have also affected parts of Belgium and the Netherlands, although these are separate movements with different causes.
