@brycecopegolf: You should look at four areas if you want to gain swing speed and hit the ball farther. More speed and more distance is without a doubt one of the most beneficial ways to shoot lower scores. 1: Check your equipment. You don’t need the newest clubs every year, but you don’t want to be playing 10 year old clubs either. Modern technology is too good to not take advantage of. Make sure they are weighted properly so you can swing them fast enough and grips are an extremely important thing to not overlook. The more slick the grip is the tighter you will grip it which is devastating for speed. More on this later. 2: Get in the gym. When most players think of golf workouts it’s replicating the swing with light bands or doing minimal weight stability exercises. These have a time and place, but go get stronger, improve your mobility, and become more explosive. This will do more for you than making some swings with a light resistance band. If you’re unsure of where to start find a professional coach/trainer and go work with someone that can work with you, especially if you have a history of injury, joint replacement, etc. Part two will go over some swing mechanics and speed training techniques.
