@clubmuse1: villa foscari, also known as “la malcontenta” was commissioned by the patritian brothers nicolò and alvise foscari in the mid 1550s. it fell into a severe state of ruin in the 19th century before its eventual restoration. the piano nobile is covered in immense fresco cycles. it’s iconic exterior features a hexastyle ionic portico raised on a massive rusticated ashlar foundation. i typically post more post war and contemporary art here, but my first and enduring love, as well as my specialization, is in the renaissance. —————————————— #arthistory #villafoscari #italy #renaissance #fyp
