Also in the US the park grass might be saturated in urine and drug residue.

If you do plan on camping in the US there are designated places where you can camp that usually require you to pay a fee.

Nah we camp too just not in public parks. It's either at designated camping grounds or literally out in the wild.

I think it’s a misunderstanding. We go camping all the time. We usually camp overnight and mostly do not associate the word camping or camp with homelessness. When we’re spending the day at a big city park we might set up a canopy for shade (similar to tent but no walls) and I think we mostly do this at the beach. I do sometimes see parents set up small tents for shade for children or babies mostly or at least where I live in the US

So that helps it function as a more genuine third space. That sounds amazing!!! I would love this!!! We've lost most of our third spaces here.

In America, we use these.
Otherwise if they have walls, they might ask you to pay a fine.

no no, camping as in vacationing. When we camp we go to campgrounds sometimes they are in our National parks but only in a designated place. You would never see someone put up a camp sight in a city park for instance. those places are for picnics and games or walking not camping with tents or caravans.

We camp the same way in America more at lakes or the beach. The homeless camps are more in the cities

also we consider tents and camping as sleeping over night. it sounds like they just set up for the day to not be directly in the sun for all of it and break it all down to go home at the end of the day

I live in NYC and our Mayor Mamdani just did a pilot program. As a father, I think this is great. I also work in homeless outreach and there are many people in tents, but not usually in obvious spots.

They tell us to fear you because the government is watching all the time. Well, now the government is watching us all the time and we don’t have your quality of life.
