@sammmyywrld: On October 16, 2006, Ciara took a chance on herself after a Sony executive reportedly called “Promise” the “worst R&B record.” She leaked the song to an Atlanta radio station, and it went on to become a major hit, reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 11 on the Hot 100. The platinum-certified single helped propel her sophomore album, Ciara: The Evolution, to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Nearly 20 years later, the song has surpassed 101 million Spotify streams.🔥🎶🙌🏾
